Your Library Card

Who can get a library card, how to apply, and how to use your library card.

  • In order to obtain a library card from the George Public Library you will need to provide us with your address and phone number.
  • Children age 14 and under wishing to obtain a library card must have a parent/guardian sign the application form.
  • There is no fee for obtaining a library card.
  • By obtaining a library card you are responsible for whatever items you check out using that card.  If items are lost or damaged you will be responsible to pay for these items.
  • Books may be checked out for 2 weeks.  Books may be renewed by contacting the library.  Overdue fines are 5 cents a day per item.
  • Audio material may be checked out for a 2 week period.  Audio material may be renewed.  Fines are 5 cents a day per item.
  • Magazines may be checked out for a 1 week.  Magazines may be renewed.  Overdue fines are 5 cents a day per item.
  • DVD's/videos have a 3 day check out period.  DVD's/videos may not be renewed.  Overdue fines are 25 cents a day per item.  No more than 3 items may be checked out at one time.
  • When you are returning library materials please bring them into the library.  If the library is closed, drop them off in the book return.  Please do not put DVD's/videos in the book return.
